About the Course

Overview

The built environment is increasingly embracing the use of digital technology to integrate work processes and connect stakeholders working on the same project.  Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) is adopted throughout the building life-cycle from design, fabrication, construction, to operation and maintenance of buildings. To support this key transformation of the Built Environment, there is a need for a workforce with the necessary skills to integrate digital technologies into building life-cycle processes.

To address this need, the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programmes (SCTP) in Digital Delivery (Built Environment) will provide you with the knowledge and skills to support digital integration, digital design, and digital asset delivery and management for building projects.

Objectives

Upon completion of the programme, you will be able to:

  • develop digital drawings in Building Information Modelling (BIM) which form the backbone of digital twins,
  • gather information in work processes using data analytics skill to improve productivity,
  • apply knowledge in coding and computational tool to improve design and work processes, and
  • assist in digital solutions implementation.

This will adequately equip you to pursue a career as an Assistant Specialist/Specialist (Digital Delivery) or BIM Specialist.

Programme Structure

Module 1: Digital Design (Course code: 79031 – M1)

Duration: 40 hours over 1.5 months

  • BIM for Architectural

This course introduces Building Information Modelling (BIM) concepts and terminologies. Learners will also learn how to create BIM Architectural models with components such as floors, walls, ceiling, doors and windows.

  • Building Science & Digital Design
  • The course facilitates students to apply and integrate their knowledge and skills in building technology on a built environment design project. Learners have to develop design strategies, document their design process in a journal and prepare documentation of drawings for the purpose of design presentation.

Module 2: Basic Programming for Digital Design (Course code: 79031 – M2)

Duration: 50 hours over 1.5months

  • Information and Communication Technology
  • This course covers fundamentals of digital and information technologies from binary to logic gates to macro topics such as information systems, internet and networking. It allows learners to have good understanding of information technology (IT) and IT processes, hardware and software.

  • Programming 1
  • Learners will learn to write computer code using processing/ Java to automate the design.

Module 3: Fundamental Digital Delivery (Course code: 79031 – M3)

Duration:  45 hours over 1.5 months

  • Data analytics and visualisation

This course equips learners with the skills to collect, organise, present, visualise and analyse data.  It empowers learners to apply analytics skills to draw insights from data.

  • IoT for Smart Building
  • This course enables learners to use generative design software and workflow to create and optimise building designs.

Module 4: Advanced Digital Delivery (Course code: 79031 – M4)

Duration: 60 hours over 2.5 months

  • Computational BIM
  • This course enables learners to use generative design software and workflow to create and optimise building designs.

*Module 5: Workplace Learning (Course code: 79031 – M5)

Duration: 3 months

Learners will be placed in a Built Environment firm to enhance the knowledge learned in the other modules and gain practical skills in workplace setting. Learners will gain industry experience, and build professional networks to help advance their careers

* Only those who have successfully completed Modules 1 to 4 are eligible for Module 5.

Fee & Funding

Fee (inclusive of % GST):

#1 – Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents are eligible for 70% funding.

#2– Singaporeans 40 years old and above are eligible for 90% funding under SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy.
