About the Course

Overview

This Digital Design module explores the integration of computational methods in the built environment sector. The course covers two key areas: BIM for Architectural applications and Building Science & Digital Design. The module emphasises computational thinking processes and provides hands-on experience with BIM tools. Designed to bridge traditional design practices with modern digital methodologies, this course equips participants with essential skills for contemporary architectural and building science applications, preparing them for the increasingly digital landscape of the construction industry.

Objectives

Upon completion of the module, you will be able to:

  • demonstrate the use of BIM to create architectural solutions and implement digital workflows in building design project

This will adequately equip you to pursue a career as an Assistant Specialist/Specialist (Digital Delivery) or BIM Specialist.

Course Outline

Module 1: Digital Design (Course code: 79031 – M1)

Duration: 40 hours over 1.5 months

  • BIM for Architectural

This course introduces Building Information Modelling (BIM) concepts and terminologies. Learners will also learn how to create BIM Architectural models with components such as floors, walls, ceiling, doors and windows.

  • Building Science & Digital Design
  • The course facilitates students to apply and integrate their knowledge and skills in building technology on a built environment design project. Learners have to develop design strategies, document their design process in a journal and prepare documentation of drawings for the purpose of design presentation.
