About the Course

Overview

Under the refreshed Built Environment Industry Transformation Map (ITM), Integrated Planning and Design (IPD) has been identified as one of the key transformation areas that encourage collaborations among stakeholders. Project management practices are critical to ensure collaboration and integration in the project design and delivery.

The SkillsFuture Career Transition Programmes (SCTP) in Integrated Project Management and Delivery (Built Environment) will prepare professionals to take on project management roles in planning and execution of building and construction projects. Equipped with knowledge of the emerging industry practices such as Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD), Collaborative Contract (CC) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), course participants will be able to confidently manage projects that lead to industry transformation. The programme is aligned to the Skills Framework for Built Environment, accreditation framework of the Certificated Project Managers (CPM) by the Society of Project Managers (SPM).  

Objectives

Upon completion of the programme, you will be able to:

  • Collate project planning, execution and completion documents and ensure its compliance with the relevant regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Coordinate with project teams to work within the project timeline and budget
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the project requirements and processes
  • Prepare contract and tender documents as well as manage the contract and procurement process for projects using working knowledge of finance, budgeting and resource allocation
  • Manage project workflow using Building Information Model (BIM)
This will adequately equip you to pursue a career as an Assistant Project Manager.

Classes are conducted on weekdays daytime or weekday evenings (2 to 3 nights per week), except for Workplace Learning which is conducted on full time basis.

Who Should Attend

Individual who are looking for training opportunities to transit to the Built Environment sector or upskill to a new job role within the sector.  Unemployed individual who are interested can participate in the programmes.

Entry Requirement
  • Singapore citizens;
  • Singapore Permanent Residents;
  • Holders of LTVP;
  • Completed GCE ‘A’ level OR a recognised Diploma programme
  • Participants should commit to fulfil the programme requirement, including minimum attendance requirements and passing of assessments.
Programme Structure

Module 1: Scope of Work for Project Management in BE sector (Course code: 79035 – M1)

Duration: 1.5-day (9 hrs)

  • Topics:

    • The technique to prepare the project KPIs
    • The knowledge to prepare the project planning and execution documents and the common tools to monitor the project progress and project KPIs and the technique to identify improvement activities and take appropriate corrective actions

Module 2: Project Management Body of Knowledge in BE sector (Course code: 79035 – M2)

Duration: 2 evenings per week (36 hrs)

  • Topics:

    • Project management standards and core functions project lifecycle and project planning
    • Stakeholder and communication management, managing consultancy services and consultants’contributions
    • Time and productivity management
    • Quality management
    • Contract management
    • Cost and resource management
    • Project risk management
    • Environment, Health and Safety management and Workplace Safety and Health management
    • Value engineering and value management
    • Project sustainability implementation

Module 3: Project Management for Productivity Enhancement (Course code: 79035 – M3)

Duration: 2 evenings per week (15 hrs)

  • Topics:

    • Digital project delivery in project management
    • Emerging Technologies and Application for Project Management
    • Project Management for DfMA projects
    • Considerations for Design for Maintainability
    • Case Studies

Module 4: Integrated Procurement Management (Course code: 79035 – M4)

Duration: 2 evenings per week (18 hrs)

    • Procurement Planning and Management
    • Early Contractor Involvement,
    • Collaborative Bidding
    • Integrated procurement management with mindset change
    • Case studies

Module 5: Contract Administration and Collaborative Contracting (Course code: 79035 – M5)

Duration: 2 evenings per week every class 3 hrs (30 hrs)

    • Contract Administration in the BE sector
    • Engineering Contract Management
    • New Engineering Contract (NEC) 4
    • Alliance Contract
    • Integrated Project Delivery
    • Collaborative Contracting in Local Context including option modules under PSSCOC
    • Other Contractual Provision Updates for the Future Ready BE sector

Module 6: Certificate in BIM Management (Course code: 79035 – M6) 

Duration: 4-day (29.5 hrs)

    • Construction Planning and Coordination
    • BIM Legal and Contractual Issues

Module 7: Workplace Learning (Course code: 79035 – M7) 

Duration: 3 months full time Learners will be placed in a Built Environment firm to enhance the knowledge learned in the other modules and gain practical skills in workplace setting. Learners will gain industry experience and build professional networks to help advance their careers.

*Only those who have successfully completed Modules 1 to 6 are eligible for Module 7.
