Overview
This module focuses on sustainable building design and performance analysis, equipping learners with the knowledge and skills to evaluate and apply passive environmental strategies in buildings. Learners are introduced to sustainable building principles, standards, and simulation techniques for energy and lighting performance. Through analytical exercises and case studies, the module examines how passive design strategies such as natural ventilation and daylighting can reduce environmental impact. Learners will also gain an understanding of Singapore’s green building agenda and its role in mitigating climate change within the built environment.
Objectives
Upon completion of the module, you will be able to:
- Analyse building energy and lighting performance using simulation tools and evaluate outcomes against relevant sustainable building standards.
- Apply passive sustainable design strategies to enhance environmental performance and align building design with national green building objectives.
This will adequately equip you to pursue a career as an Architectural Assistant or Sustainable Design Assistant.
