Overview
This module provides learners with a comprehensive foundation in the built environment, integrating contextual understanding, technical knowledge, and digital competencies. Learners are introduced to Singapore’s built environment landscape, core building technologies and services, construction drawings and specifications, and the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) for architectural design. Through progressive learning, the module develops learners’ ability to interpret building information, understand construction processes, and apply BIM tools to support design development, coordination, and visual communication in contemporary architectural practice.
Objectives
Upon completion of the module, you will be able to:
- Explain the development, components, and construction processes of buildings within the context of Singapore’s built environment.
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications, and apply BIM tools to develop, coordinate, and visually present architectural designs.
This will adequately equip you to pursue a career as an Architectural Assistant or Sustainable Design Assistant.
