About the Course

Overview

This module serves as the gateway to advanced computational design practices, preparing learners for the increasingly sophisticated digital landscape of the construction industry.  Participants will develop a deeper understanding of computational thinking as it relates to parametric modelling, rule‑based systems, data‑driven design, and model‑based automation, and appreciate the computational tools and eventually to deploy them strategically.

Objectives

Upon completion of the module, you will be able to:

  • appreciate computational approaches and its beneficial application in the built environment sector
  • apply computational thinking processes to identify opportunities for digital innovation in construction workflows

This will adequately equip you to pursue a career as a Specialist (Digital Delivery).

Course Outline

Module 1: Introduction to Computational BIM (Course code: 79033 – M1)

Duration: 1 month

  • Introduction to Computational BIM
  • This module introduces the evolution of computational approaches from pre‑BIM workflows. It covers the process on Computational Thinking and introduce Computational Design Tools.
