Curriculum
The programme comprises three core courses:
1. Communication Skills
This course develops learner’s communication competencies through an industry-focus, integrated approach. Learners will strengthen their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through Built Environment scenarios and real-world context including presentations, learning journeys, stakeholder interviews, site visit report writing, and role-playing scenarios simulating industry interactions. Through these practical experiences, learners will build their professional vocabulary and confidence in using technical terms related to productivity, sustainability, green buildings, and digitalisation.
Classroom hours: 100 hours; Asynchronous hours: 20 hours
2. Basic Digital Drawings
This course develops learners’ digital design competencies, from fundamental digital drawing to Building Information Modelling (BIM). Starting with AutoCAD fundamentals, learners will learn to interpret building drawings and create 2D and 3D models. The course then advances to BIM applications where learners will use BIM modelling software to create BIM model and gain introductory exposure to BIM coordination and collaboration tools.
Classroom hours: 100 hours; Asynchronous hours: 20 hours
3. Introduction to the Built Environment
This course provides learners with an understanding of the principles that underpin the design, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings. It covers the advancements shaping Singapore’s Built Environment, from sustainability practices to cutting-edge technologies. Learners will explore concepts in both traditional and modern construction methods and trends.
Classroom hours: 50 hours; Asynchronous hours: 10 hours
