About the Course

Overview

This 1.5-day course provides practical AI essentials training for Built Environment (BE) professionals across construction, architecture, engineering, and facilities management. The course is designed to demystify AI concepts, bridge the gap between technical AI knowledge and real-world BE practice, and support professionals in managing the transition to redesigned jobs while exploring new areas of growth and opportunity in the AI-driven BE landscape.

The course curriculum is curated around three key focus areas that reflect the most pressing AI learning needs of BE professionals today:

(i) AI Fundamentals and Professional Context: Build a strong foundation in core AI concepts, key terminology, and understand how different AI capabilities can be applied to sector-specific challenges in construction, architecture, and facilities management. Gain the foundational AI literacy needed to engage with AI tools and conversations in your professional context.

(ii) Real-World AI applications and Career Readiness: Explore transformative AI applications already being deployed by leading BE firms, from AI-powered design workflows, construction site operations, to facilities management. Understand how AI is creating new professional roles, reshaping existing ones, and what this means for your career developments and upskilling journey.

(iii) Data Excellence and Responsible AI Implementation: Develop a critical understanding of data quality, governance, and ethical considerations that determine the effectiveness and integrity of AI in Built Environment projects. Learn how structured and validated data enables reliable, transparent, and responsible AI deployment.

Delivered by experienced professionals including public sector representatives with insights into AI applications in the BE sector and industry subject matter experts, the course draws on expert presentations, industry showcases, and interactive discussions to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to engage with and adopt AI in their professional roles.

Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to identify AI opportunities, navigate workforce transformation, and apply AI tools effectively within their organisations.

Objectives

(i) To build participants' foundational AI literacy, including understanding of key AI concepts and terminology, and how they apply across the built environment sector.

(ii) To develop participants' awareness of how AI is transforming job roles and creating new career opportunities in Singapore's BE sector, and the skills needed to navigate this transition.

(iii) To provide participants with practical exposure to real-world AI applications being deployed by leading BE firms across design, construction, and facilities management.

(iv) To strengthen participants' understanding of the importance of data quality, governance, and responsible AI implementation in the context of BE projects.

(v) To enable participants to identify opportunities to leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency in their own professional roles.
