About the Course

Overview

The course aims to provide training opportunities for construction workers who would like to upgrade their knowledge and skills in plumbing & pipefitting. The course is also intended to provide an opportunity for those who have not received any formal training to attain a recognised qualification in plumbing & pipefitting.

Other workers who would like to embark on a career in plumbing should attend this course.

Objectives

This course provides training in the use of plumbing tools, equipment and materials for the installation of sanitary and water appliances for both domestic and industrial uses in accordance with the regulations of the PUB.

Participants will also acquire knowledge in plumbing theory, sanitary and gas system, interpretation of drawings and relevant Codes of Practice.

Course Outline

Workshop practices and classroom lectures will be conducted in English.

Module 1

Plumbing principles, code of practice and drawing

Water supply
Sanitary plumbing and drainage
Gas supply
Code of practice (Water)
Code of practice (Sanitary)
Plumbing drawings

A participant is required to complete Module 1 before taking Module 2.

Module 2

Basic pipework, pipefitting practice and apply practice

Steel pipework
uPVC pipework
Copper pipework
Fixing of appliances
Installation projects

6.30pm to 9.30pm on evenings and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Saturdays.

396 hours (Spread over 9 months of evening and Saturday classes)

BCA Braddell Campus

3 evenings and Saturday per week

Assessment & Award

Participants must achieve at least 75% attendance for Module 1 before proceeding to the Module 2. Builder Certificate (BC) in Plumbing and Pipefitting will be awarded to those who have successfully completed and passed both the prescribed tests.

Entry Requirement

The Applicant must:

At least 18 years of age
Be a Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent
Residents or holders of valid work permit; and possess any one of the following:
- Minimum 3 GCE 'O' or 3 GCE 'N' level passes in English, Mathematics and a Science or Technical subject; or
- SSG’s Employability Skills Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Minimum Level 4; or
- Holders of National Trade Certificate 2 (NTC 2) awarded by Institute of Technical Education (ITE); or
- Holders of Skills Evaluation Certificate (SEC) or Basic Builder Certificate (BBC) in Plumbing & Pipefitting awarded by BCA Academy. They must pass English subject at GCE `N' level.

Career Advancement

Holders of Builder Certificate in Plumbing and Pipefitting with 2 years of related working experience are eligible to sit for the Licensed Plumber examination conducted by the PUB (please refer to PUB's website for the latest licensing criteria: https://www.pub.gov.sg/Professionals/Requirements/Licensed-Plumbers/Application-for-Plumber-Licence). Those with 2 years of relevant experience and has successfully completed the Gas Service Workers Course (GSW), may also apply for Gas Service Worker License issued by the Energy Market Authority (EMA). 	To be confirmed	Fee payable after 50% funding support For Singaporeans and Singapore PRs, including those sponsored by non-SME companies
	To be confirmed	Fee payable after 70% funding support Singaporeans 40 years old and above OR SME company sponsored Singaporeans or Singapore PRs

Participant must achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all assessments. BCA Academy reserves the right to recover the funded amount from the participant (self-sponsored) or employer (company sponsored) if participant did not meet the eligibility criteria.
