About the Course

OVERVIEW

Are your buildings costing more to maintain than they should? The answer may lie in decisions made long before construction begins.

As Singapore's building stock continues to grow and age, owners, developers and facilities management professionals are facing mounting pressure to keep buildings safe, efficient and cost-effective to maintain.

Join us for this industry sharing to discover how Design for Maintainability (DfM) can help address these challenges by integrating maintenance considerations early in the design process.

The session will also discuss key findings from a DfM Consultancy Study by BCA and Surbana Jurong (SJ Group), completed in May 2026. Using Life Cycle Costing (LCC) analysis across new non-residential, residential, and existing non-residential typologies, the study quantifies the potential operational cost and productivity savings that DfM can deliver under the Maintainability (Mt) Section of BCA's Green Mark (GM) 2021 Certification Scheme.
