Growing a Green Legacy

Updated on 29 Oct 2026

Growing a Green Legacy
Rooted in our campus. Growing towards a greener future.

Three years ago, BCA Academy took a small but significant step: planting the first of what would become 166 saplings on campus to offset the Graduation Ceremony's carbon emissions. That quiet commitment has since grown into a living green legacy, offsetting 7,701 Kg of CO2 and counting. More importantly, it has grown into an annual tradition that brings our students, staff and campus partners together for a greener campus.

Founded in 2024, the BCA Academy Green Club is a student-led club that champions sustainability initiatives for our Graduation Ceremony and across campus. With over 100 members, the club gives students opportunities to turn their interest in sustainability into action while building friendships and a stronger sense of community.

Each year, a newly formed Green Club committee takes ownership of Green Legacy @ Graduation, from planning logistics to calculating carbon footprints. Along the way, students learn to collaborate, solve problems, and lead an initiative with real-world impact. Through the experience, they build skills and confidence that extend beyond the classroom.

Continuing the tradition this year, 60 Green Club students joined BCA Academy staff and our campus partners on 12 October for Green Legacy @ Graduation 2026. Together, they planted 48 Japanese Yew saplings near the Block A car park shelter to offset the carbon emissions from this year’s Graduation Ceremony. Participants also crafted and hung colourful wishing butterflies, sharing their hopes for a greener and more sustainable future.

Beyond planting trees, Green Legacy is about growing a community that cares, while giving our students opportunities to learn, lead and make a difference beyond the classroom.Green Legacy 6.jpeg.jpg
