Overview
Under the Singapore Green Building Masterplan (SGBMP), ambitious sustainability targets have been set for the next phase of Singapore’s green building journey. The BCA Green Mark scheme supports these goals by driving greater energy efficiency and carbon reduction, while addressing broader sustainability outcomes across the Built Environment.
Green Mark v7.0 refreshes the Green Mark 2021 framework by providing more pathways, greater flexibility and more options for the industry to meet Singapore’s sustainability ambitions. It introduces a standalone BCA Energy Rating for projects focusing on energy performance, while holistic Green Mark certification combines the Energy Rating with five other sustainability sections: Intelligence, Health & Wellbeing, Whole Life Carbon, Resilience and Maintainability.
Key enhancements under Green Mark v7.0 include:
- a new BCA Energy Rating and SLE₇₀ tier to recognise and encourage higher levels of energy performance;
- greater flexibility through the recognition of Alternative Cooling Technologies and streamlined maintainability requirements; and
- new certification approaches, including portfolio certification and extended certification validity for sustained performers.
