Overview
How can buildings stay cool while using less energy? What makes a building smart, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly?
As Singapore move towards net-zero emissions by 2050, building service engineers play an important role in designing the systems that make buildings efficient, comfortable and sustainable.
The Diploma in Sustainable Building Engineering (DSBE) equips you with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, sustainability and digital skills to design and optimise building systems for a greener future.
You will learn about Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV), renewable energy, building energy modelling and carbon management, gaining the knowledge and practical skills to contribute to Singapore’s sustainable Built Environment.
The programme also provides a pathway towards Green Mark Accredited Professional (GMAP) certification, subject to meeting the stipulated requirements.
Why DSBE?
-
Help shape a greener Built Environment
Play a part in Singapore’s transition towards a low-carbon future by learning how to design buildings that use energy more efficiently. -
Design high-performance building systems
Learn to design and optimise essential building systems, from air-conditioning and ventilation to lighting, to improve energy efficiency and building performance. -
Build engineering and digital capabilities
Develop skills in mechanical engineering, sustainability and digital technologies to analyse, model and improve how buildings perform. -
Learn through real-world industry experience
Apply what you learn through industry projects and structured workplace learning with industry partners, gaining practical experience to prepare you for a career in sustainable building engineering.
About Sustainable Building Engineering
Sustainable Building Engineering combines mechanical engineering, green building technologies and digital solutions to create buildings that are energy-efficient, comfortable and environmentally friendly.
It focuses on the essential systems that keep buildings running efficiently, including ACMV, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems, and smart building controls.
Through this diploma, you will learn how these systems work together and how engineering and digital technologies can be used to improve building performance, reduce energy consumption and support Singapore's sustainability goals.
Next-Gen in Sustainable Building Engineering Skills
Train as a next-generation sustainable building engineer:
- Design and optimise ACMV and MEP systems for greater energy efficiency and improved building performance.
- Use digital tools to model and analyse building energy performance, identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency and cost savings.
- Apply Singapore's Green Mark framework and sustainable building principles, including renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.
- Harness Building Information Modelling (BIM) and building automation systems to coordinate and deliver sustainable building solutions digitally.
