SkillsFuture Career Transition Programmes (SCTP) in Computational Design (Built Environment)

Event code:79033

OVERVIEW

Are you looking to transition or advance your career in the Built Environment (BE) industry?

As the BE sector continues to embrace digitalization, there is a growing need for professionals who are skilled in Computation Building Information Modelling (BIM). Computation BIM involves the use of advanced software and programming languages to automate and optimise BIM workflows across a building lifecycle, enabling more efficient and accurate building design, construction and maintenance.

The SkillsFuture Career Transition Programmes (SCTP) in Computational Design (Built Environment) aims to equip individuals with the necessary skills to leverage Computational BIM to improve project process and outcome.  It will enable individuals to stay ahead of the curve and acquire the knowledge and skills to succeed in this rapidly evolving field.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the programme, you will be able to:
- use basic coding to customize BIM programmes and improve productivity
- use computational tools to automate, optimize and benchmark processes within a building lifecycle

This will adequately equip you to pursue a career as a Specialist in Digital Delivery.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Module 1: Introduction to Computational BIM (Course code: 79033 – M1)
January 2024   Duration: 0.5 month (Commences on 31 January 2024)
- Introduction to Computational BIM
This module introduces the evolution of computational methods and application of computational design in BE sector. It will cover the process on Computational Thinking and introduce Computational Design Tools

Module 2: Basic Coding & Programming I (Course code: 79033 – M2)
January 2024   Duration: 0.75 month
Python Coding Language
This course covers programming syntaxes and the use of Python, which the leaners can use to write com-putational scripting tools.

Module 3: Basic Coding & Programming 2 (Course code: 79033 – M3)
Feb 2024   Duration: 0.75 month
Integration of Programming Coding with Computational Tools
This module enables learners to apply programming skills to integrate with computational tools, and to make the scripts more efficient and clearer to look at.

Module 4: Computational BIM Tool Application 1 (Course code: 79033 – M4)
April 2024   Duration: 1 month
Computational BIM Tool Application 1
This module covers the use of visual programming tools and applications to create and generate geometry, interfacing, surface and volume.

Module 5: Computational BIM Tool Application 2 (Course code: 79033 – M5)
May 2024   Duration: 1 month
Computational BIM Tool Application 2
This module covers the use of computational design tools in the BE sector and their various applications ranging from architectural, structural to MEP.

Module 6: Workplace Learning (Course code: 79033 – M6)
May 2024   Duration: 3 months
Industrial Attachment
Learners will be placed in a Built Environment firm to enhance the knowledge learned in the other modules and gain practical skills in workplace setting. Learners will gain industry experience, and build professional networks to help advance their careers.
