Demolition Course for Renovation Contractors
This course aims to equip workers with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills to carry out light demolition activities during renovation works.
OVERVIEW
Renovation works that involve demolition are considered hazardous operations. They require the knowledge and skills to read and understand floor layouts, elevations, sectional plans as well as details of the proposed demolition works. Careful planning is required for carrying out these demolition works so as to ensure that none of the load bearing structures are damaged during the demolition process.
This course aims to equip workers with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills to carry out light demolition works during the renovation of HDB’s housing units. They will be trained to identify key structural members in order to avoid excessive hacking works as well as the proper handling and usage of demolition tools and personal protective equipment. This one-day course comprises of both theory and practical sessions. An assessment will be conducted at the end of each session.
COURSE OUTLINE
• Explain and apply demolition works and procedures.
• Describe and plan the demolition methods and procedures, including the usage of approved tools & equipments.
• Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personal safety.
• Read HDB approved drawing and identifies structure wall, column, slab and beam which hacking is not allowed.
• Demolition procedure & sequencing of operation.
• Demolition techniques. (Hand held power tools approved by HDB)
• Debris handling.
• Proper use of lift during renovation works.
• Protections to existing floor and wall.
• HDB Demolition guidelines & conditions.
• Dos & Don’ts in Demolition Works.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Workers of HDB registered renovation contractors involved in demolition works.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident or holder of a valid employment pass / Work Permit.
LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION
English or Mandarin
ASSESSMENT & AWARD
Participants who pass the required assessments will be awarded a E-Certificate of Successful Completion (CSC) in Demolition works for Renovation Contractors issued by BCA Academy. Participants who fail the assessment are allowed to sit for one retest. Participants must re-enrol for the full course if they fail the retest.
