The School of Building and Development (SBD) has been providing academic programmes for secondary school leavers and continual training for adults since 1984. Its approach is to provide a smooth learning progression path for learners. It offers learning opportunities from skills training for craftsmen to diploma programmes for associate professionals. SBD's strength lies in its pool of in-house curriculum developers, lecturers and skills trainers. They are supported by experienced and leading practitioners from various fields in the industry.
Extensive Range of Programmes designed to meet the needs of the building Industry
The Skills training programmes provided by SBD cover all major building trades. These include bricklaying, tiling, drywall installation, plumbing, electrical wiring, air-conditioning installation, sprinklers installation, cranes and excavators operation and scaffolding erection.
SBD also allocates a great deal of its resources to nurture associate professionals. The key areas of education and training include project supervision, construction engineering, building services engineering, interior design, facilities management and contract administration. These programmes will lead to the awarding of diplomas and other certification such as those under the National Building Qualification.
