Thirty-three trainee instructors from Rwanda arrived at BCA Academy on 19 May 2009. These trainee instructors represent the Rwanda Workforce Development Authority (WDA). Funded by the Rwanda WDA, the training programme covers plumbing, electrical wiring, excavator operation, telescopic handler operation, scaffold erection and construction safety, over a seven-week period.

One of the participants, Ms Murame Umutesi Valentine, commented, “After two weeks into the course, my plumbing skills have improved. I have also widened my knowledge about plumbing.” The well equipped workshop at the Academy impressed Ms Valentine and she hopes to improve the training facilities and equipment in Rwanda. She added, “The trainers here are very professional, friendly and patient. I’m glad to be here and hope to bring back to Rwanda what I’ve learned so that my country will become more advanced and developed.”
